Flowers and films
26th October 2010

This weekend we swapped flowers for fashion shoots, for film and The Woman in Black with a spec of victoriana for a well to do parlour.
So so much fun, cue roses, pepper flowers, all the rage floral pineaples and love lies bleeding. I’ve never been nervy about living next to a graveyard but researching the original definitely resulted in scary movie musings for a monday and a wizardly fascination for Gypsy Rose flowers from HP fans.

Today has involved a wonky wheeled shopping trolley full of pumpkins, hurtling Mabel around Chelsea, leaving Harper with her lovely Grandma, buying flowers I’ve never used before (burgandy fluffy giant blooms, more soonski ) and being soothed by paper urns of lovely in a fave shop window.

Back to work this week it’s been all about fashion shoots and October flower fodder. Other stars have included:
A Mirabelle jam called Black Crow.
Harper smiling lots…(we love).
Captain blushing over Nigella in Portobello.
Bouquets for Burberry.
Victoriana flowers for a film set.
A tale of twenty pumpkins.
And Mabels return to the flower market.
Happy wednesday

Every girl needs a bit of fru fru la la and with a cosmetic job coming up I’m digging out the flower girls staple of red lippy and seeking inspiration from a vintage era.
These cool 50’s and 60’s ads are telling me it’s time to dust down my dancing shoes (btw check out Captain on Cazza’s new pics), fluff up my marabou feathers, pouff some coral powder about and get rocking a trivette look.
Flowers? Peachy pink roses and a few daring dahlias ofcourse.

This week am bending the lovely Virginias stylish ear about vintage floral millinary for a christening frock, giggling as we court controversy and raise a sundae smile with a name.
Planning a floral cross stitch adventure with Fine Cell and trying to convince someone that no, peonies are over…but autumn hydrangeas are most definitely in.

Not a huge amount of Gypsy Rose happenings on the towpath flower wise it has to be said. Just Harps, Captain and I getting used to life afloat.
Part of London Design week saw our lovely neighbours at Tom Dixon opening their new lifestyle shop, all manner of cool cushions, vintage bits and bobs and some old favourite designers for daughter, all a pram ride away. Like.
Lovely things a plenty for a flower fille and design bods, go visit.

If I could tippety tap a a note it would be Nancy and Betty style, or scribbled maybe on a Warhol cat or two but in lieu, and done with love on my imaginary corona, a thank you for all your lovely messages, bottles of fizz, toys for Mlle’s toy box, frocks for grey days and happy thoughts…you are just my type of friends.

White letter days
15th September 2010

It’s been a few weeks of days and nights merging, washing lines of frilly baby whites and getting used to life with our darling Harper. She’s been given her first flower book, been rocked to the Ink Spots and been cooed over by a hundred fairy god mothers. So far so good.
Now to nesting for autumn, pining sleep and planning bags of fun, Christmas wreaths, museum visits and dreaming of warmer climates…swoon.
More bluebell banter soon but in the meantime, Happy Wednesday.

It’s been a while I know but a quick postcard to say that Gypsy Rose Junior finally arrived a few weeks ago, with a shout on a sunny friday in London W2.
We’re settling in to life with baby on board. She was fashionably late, noisy, naturally predisposed to petals, bonny and looking very much like her daddy.
We are truly madly deeply. Here she is xxx
