Gypsy Rose Flowers

Mantles and Mason jars

Mantles and Mason jars

So this weekend we ended up in gorgeous Greenwich for a Temperleyesque wedding, drooping chandeliers, more sweeping staircases and Mason jars galore.

Here are some of the results, it was a pretty simple affair of blossom, amnesia roses, lilacs, hyacinths ranuncs and potted fun set on a lovely backdrop and to the tune of bump kicking me as the deejay practiced his tunes.

Tales from The Trafalgar.

Steep stairs & vintage affairs

Another Gypsy Rose weekend. After a mad saturday of prepping roses in the rain we made it with our blossom wares to Greenwich, adorned austere stairwells and laughed at satnavs that dared to take us florists out of W11. And I became an Auntie to another very special Oliver.

Pics, baby interuptions and what happened to that pepper flower to follow. xxx

Fondant Pansies

It’s been the case of the non opening blossom this weekend but pheweee, it’s that time of the day, flower prep over, a curlup in front of the woodburner and the torgraph salivating over Fiona Cairns and her pretty feasts.

I’ve been munching on fondant fancies today but I love this look, am not a patch on Fee but have been known to chuck the odd pansy in a salad, taste wise they suck sadly but ‘ll keep trying!

Anyway aren’t these heaven….

Piceroos by Laura Hynd

It’s only a bag…

I know, but I adore it, we made our normal schlepp to Marc Jacobs when we were in Paris (they always do great windows) and found this, firmly on the wish list.

Don’t you love it, but will it work with nappies and floristry scissors?

Flowers for a friday

My Dorothy moment in red roses…

After a week away in France it’s back to blossom and Burberry and a busy weekend of flowers ahead for a Conde Naste bride – hooray there’s nothing like calm before the storm is there?

Odorantes, oh wow.

Traipsing through St Germain this week with Captain I made my way to the most beautiful flower shop in Paris.

Birds, amnesia roses, beautiful greys and heavenly owners.

With my set design background this was a total gawpfest…they change the look constantly with different props which is right up my rue. March is back to blacks with lots of magpies littered amongst black urns, candles hidden under glass cloches, slate greys and pastel pink ranuncs and roses. A sort of Tippi Hedren meets Bardot on a rainy pavement vibe…

I’ve been waxing about this place for so long so it was brilliant to go and hang out with Emmanuel Sammartino and Christophe HervĂ© (they both have really sparkly eyes too so you just know they’re dead creative!), and for our wedding in France are definitely going to be called upon for inspiration.

This is also Sofia Coppola’s favourite flower shop and if you find yourself wandering near 9 Rue Madame, 75006 Paris… go, go go.

Poste from Paris

Not a ribbon or pearl pin in sight but sunshine in Paris, perfect for a spot of Brogue walking in La Tuilleries via St Germain pre-empted by a cheeky postcard seller and sandwiches on Rue St Honore.

Love from France

In no particular order a birthday with my favourite people ever, mothers day jonquils, home in france, the moo friends, rusticness, blue skies…it’s definitely the unraveling.

Repeat to fade…tomorrow Paris and a lovely flower shop.

It’s the unraveling

And I really hope that’s what this week brings. A birthday treat of a break in France, the relief of Uncle Nick looking after Arnold and Cholet, windy Normandy lanes and splashes of flowers…and I’m taking on the task of trying to find a fleuriste with good taste in Calvados in time for Mothers Day, gulp. Possible?

Knotted bracelets, don’t people make the prettiest things…

Baggages and roses

Saying goodbye to these…and hi to these today, happy wednesday xxx

Oh, and merci Florabelle and Becky, I shall definitely be going here.
