A Pocketful of Rye
23rd July 2009

Today on the boat am tickled pink about my flower friends McCully and Crane (stylists, florists and dog rescuers extraordinaire) and their ravishing shop in Rye…

They’ve now got me coveting cushions for a summer party, a wall full of oily florals, a fab lolly and an afternoon of Mapp and Lucia.

Hmm wonder if they can source a vintage portrait of a sailor for O? Monsieur Marcus? Love you boys and an obligatory Aureservoir my peas.
Claridges and Cole Porter

There’s something very regal about le C, the tippety tap tap of heels upon marble.

Avalanche roses, sweeping staircases and chandeliers for movie star moments.

Pretty piano playing…a bit of Noel and a lot of Cole. Tell me, in this rain, would it be such a pain to take a flower girl to tea? xxx
In love with
21st July 2009

When I’m not having a universal love in with blooms it’s safe to say…

I’m gazing at flowering objects like fabrics and wallpapers…

This week a search for a river punt and these are inspiring me. xxx
Bye bye hues
21st July 2009

Well, it would have been rude not to say yes to a keen gardener and his welsh wares… so back to London with a van full of yup, heavenly hydrangeas.

A big kiss to Bryn the lovely park keeper at Portmeiron, Vogue Living, a demented sat nav, Elaine Page and my trusty shears. Oh, and Arn, Cho and O…

Hydrangea heart attack over I retreated to the beach with wellies and wine.

Plotting a moonlit flit for a harvest of hot pinks to add to my vintages and well…

Petals aside, Porters and its poirot-esque vibe is both enchanting and eerie.

As for windy Wales and its love of Hortenses, I’m most definitely a Prisoner…
The Chintz of Wales

I adore hydrangeas, even if you feel you can’t get enough in your lovedom of the things, sometimes nature can be dead cruel to us florists. Like when you’ve a van stuffed to the brim full of carefully selected heads of…

Hydrangeas in tafetta pinks and whites, mauves and blues, carefully snipped and conditioned and fresh from overpriced Covent Garden…

Seven hours away, down windy roads, carefully avoiding sheep in the rain, accompanied by a Chess tape stuck in the stereo. There they are, growing like weeds.
But the wedding was beautiful and I skipped on the blue after all…
Could it be a lie…

Last seen sneaking off with the waiter at sweet Juliette’s wedding three years ago, there’s great news for us Barbara Cartlands, the Illusion rose has been re-cultivated.

I nearly dropped my over-sugared tea when I saw a wrap of these at market this morning…

I know my fellow flower friends will be clicking their heels in glee to this too. And without not asingy apparition. The Queen mother loved these more than toothpaste, and so do we.

Colour me pretty

A quiet week comtemplating The Murder of Roger Ackroyd, a big wedding in Wales, a crazy floral overhaul and new colourways for Gypsy Rose. Red, violet or pink? xxx

This fab photo sums up a brilliant weekend, swirling around a dance floor watching O in his panama, weddings on boats, cutting a fringe, pink ribbons, fave Jackson songs, lillies in lavs and beautiful blogging from Beth Retro.
Clowns and carnations
10th July 2009
Today brings practice posies and a request for event styling and flowers for a big top wedding, has someone been reading my ‘oh if I could only marry in…’ diaries?

Don’t get me wrong, I love a classic wedding, posies along the aisle and a Rex Harrison buttonhole but an off the wall affair really tickles my turnip.

Gorgeously overfed carthorses adorned with rose and feathered head dresses, girls wandering around in trapeze outfits and happy colourful clowns serving canapes…

Katy England and Bobby G went mad for it as did this sweet couple.

Electric blues, hot pinks and scarlet red with a splash of golden yellow, flower chandeliers and burlesque backdrops all spring to mind….

O bought me the enchanting Circus which sits next to a carousel horse and 30’s tutu on the boat. That and a bit of gertcha and that’s plenty o inspiration. xxx
