Burt bacarra and bloomin love
4th June 2009
A meeting of two minds in London, sparkling glass, hot pink roses laced with jasmine – an effortless swoon in June and a fine romance.

Our Taylor Burtons swapped the South of France and the Ritz Carlton 1964 for SW3, sunny skies and an antique Porsche as their steed.

Peatini’s were supped, Jasmine wafted and this girl got to dance to a bit of Warwick, Bacharach and Ritchie with not a Dexy’s midnight runner in sight.

What the world needs now is…. xx
Marilyn Monroe and Apricots
3rd June 2009
Swoon what a treat – I woke this morning to the most delicious email from a friend in LA with unseen unpublished Monroe images from the 1950’s. Did you know she adored gardening and loved flowers? A Gypsy icon to the last.

Said pal and I had tirelessly cased out the brentwood bunglow where she’d once lived, gawped at the self confessed greenfingers garden and dreamt of drinking peach ice tea with our heroine.
Twas not to be but rose bushes there were a plenty and this amorous apricot rose was named after her. Check out the naturel pics from Life magazine.
* Note to my dears, her actual fleurs du choix were white roses and delphiniums – a whole other post! xx
Friends, flowers and finds
2nd June 2009
Bon amities…to losing leeks in hedges down the towpath, giggling in E&O at the sight of an opal, staring at friends baby bumps, finding my first delicious dash of blue bee delphs…

To sharing peach peonies with pals and giggling over homemade peppermint tea, to saving a mouse from the duke, battling with broad beans in the midday sun, enjoying sweet peas and twisting heavenly hydrangea garlands for my girls.
Barrows, blooms and boats
2nd June 2009
Here we are on this hot sunny waiting for a visit from fashion royalty, gardening till dusk, searching for derniere peonies, and hooplaa’ing for hydrangeas.

is for gardening, growing gooseberries, gardenia, great friends, graciousness, grilled fish, gretna green (at this rate), grand designs, georgina, general joviality, gershwin, geraniums, gorgeous headbands, gracelands (not the album), ganache, george formby, grumpy cats and go go dancing.
Lobsters, lace and postcards
1st June 2009
A weekend of escapism for the Gypsy Roses, daring feasts courtesy of captain upon fine vintage lace and some fabulous floral finds.

Waiting for the rain and reports on leeks, lovage and lavender to come. xx
Nothing finer than china
29th May 2009

And having good flower friends round for an afternoon tea.
Sujets du jour: Tussy mussy’s, vintage fairs, white weddings, italian eggs, stroppy brides. Gypsy Roses, Primrose Hill walks, Sweet William, John Torrode, Crazy horses, opal rings, sage green cello and tying the knot.
… co-starring a whole lot of hats, Kate’s lemon drizzle…an elderflower sponge and strawberry sandwiches. Fun.

Birdcage bodices ‘n blooms
28th May 2009

Pink is my shrink this week and in search of a gown I seldomly frown. What could be prettier than Givenchy – but carnations and asparagus fern?
Love in a glove
27th May 2009

A photo by my dearest friend Tim which sums up my gypsyrose gardening efforts today.
Ce jour la, we’ve been preparing god daughter teas, sowing sweet peas, carrot seeds and planning a cottage garden.

27th May 2009
Wednesday brings you a magical picture taken by my sailing friend Inness.

A distinguished wall of picture frames is one of my favourite things ever…

…that and fabulous emporiums. Shrimps cooked by O after a Goldbourne Fishery visit, our scented terrace and fading roses.
The Gypsy Rose garden and the boat have been invited to star in a chic coffee table book so we’re dead excited, hoping our courgettes grow in time and frantically pruning…

Today we’re sniffing back the tears as we watch peonies fade and sharing plates with mates…
Apple Blossom in London.
26th May 2009
It’s Candlelight, camera and action in Fulham Palace and a stolen silhouette.

Having giggled in changing rooms with an excited bride at Temperley, to this…

Lily of the valley, yup. Seas of Blossom, for sure. Gale force winds and a beautiful day, yes siree. Petals in my hair? Hell yeah.

After months of planning, chortling with camp caterers and running around rooms of Fulham Palace to discuss lighting and sets we arrived at Mrs B to be’s big day.
Movie stars, decadence, a dash of britishness and a dollop of glamour.

Starring:
A Hog Roast.
Bacarra roses.
Dishy ushers.
Lots of girls in Laboutin.
Mabel.
Me in a ripped petticoat.
Peonies a plenty.
Mr and Mrs B.
