Guarded on Gardenia
27th June 2011

Dangerous dalliances at the flower market.
A rather clever gent with a yenn for old school glamour thought these would be a good idea recently, after all in days gone by they really were the bees knees.
Warned off by knowing boys from Covent Garden I approached with caution for cultivation of these deliciously scented stems is not what it once was. How to? Be gentle, they bruise easily, order triple, store cold and use within 12 hours.
Thankfully my florists fear eased when three trays of plants and 70 cut stems later a lovely man from the Times took pictures (coming coming coming), I blushed and thanks to a beautiful beautiful bride and Jasper, my gardenia rocked.

Palette for a party
16th June 2011

Captain and I are marrying in a few weeks and I am now finding myself squeezing in to the trotters of all those fabulous, often inspiring and beautiful brides I’ve worked with. Let me just say, I get it girls.
Todays list, decorations, cake colours, music music music, tree pom poms and lastly how could I forget why we are running off to an Orchard in the first place?

Delphinium days
15th June 2011

An English country garden wedding in Knightsbridge and a flower love story with larkspur, whiteleaf, stock, lavender, sage, cotinus, delphs, wild sweetpeas, alchemilla, gypsophila, roses, foxglove, snap dragons and peonies. Pretty.

And a flower interlude. After a crazy weekend and a Knightsbridge wedding it was lovely to get back to secret gardens, calm seas and our new neighbours bringing sweet tweets at 5am.
These lovely photos are courtesy of the gorgeous Gerry who wandered by on a rainy day with her camera.

Love in the wild
7th June 2011

The day it took Captain, Harper and I five hours to get to Dorset, I cried at wilting cowslip, arranged flowers in the rain and love conquered all.
Things don’t always go to plan but take over a campsite full of yurts and tipis, add some festival types in wellies, bundle in some blustering blooms, host a hog roast, laugh and dance. Repeat to fade. Sam and Rui’s magical country wedding.
Cool camping in pretty frocks with peonies, sweetpeas, sage, love in the mist, hydrangea, daisies and rained upon grass. Bliss. Flowers for a tuesday.

Marylebone and marigolds

Well, peonies, cutting a dash of yellow for a lovely London wedding.
The bride walked in to Depeche Mode, we wept, wooped then wandered with blooms through W1…good times. xxx
Name of the rose
24th May 2011

Snap shots of a Sunday.
A few weeks ago a group of family and friends gathered, bloom in hand at a church in Notting Hill for a flower themed naming ceremony. Strict instructions were to arrive with a stem of something they loved. Gorgeousness followed with a lot of bluebells, blowy peonies, roses and blossom and a wonderful pianist tinkling Debussy to welcome Harper. A great day.
I may be biased but a crowd of people all meandering flower in hand along the streets of W11 is definitely the best look ever.
Thank you all for giving us a room full of love, lupins, poetry and laughter. Much fun.

Forty pots and cups of tea.
16th May 2011

I’m back from a blissful field trip in France, wet by tea and home to barns, charolais cows, huge wide blue skies, white butterflies and mamas mini Sissinghurst.
This florists wedding beckons and you’ve all been asking what I’m doing. Simple pots pots pots of the above, green glassed posies and twisted heart shaped treats beckon. There may even be a Lagonda, a sweetpea or two, peach macaroons and some retro Johnny.
Don’t get me wrong Normandy bound music lovers, that’s just an I quite like his old stuff maybe.

This week, sweet scented gardenia and plans for another nervous bride, a visit with a fashion designer and tulle, tulle, tulle.

My daily bread…

Leaving bunny love behind in Queens park and heading for hazels in Normandy, I’m missing my beady eyed pals, a really yum pumpernickel and Captain.
French adventures to come that may well involve bunting and wysteria hearts.
Happy tuesdays.

Food and flowers
7th April 2011

During a previous life I worked here for a bit and a love of food found me accidentally being a food writer for C4. So yup, subsequently like most florists I fancy myself as a bit of a Constance Spry both in the kitchen and garden.
There are a lot of these in our house. Flowery books for foodies.
Blossom blowing through the portholes today as I cook – a defiinite whoop for Spring.
