Gypsy Rose Flowers

Miss Havisham and haberdashery

Frilly knicker bright post alert…

The sewing machine cometh. So I’m having a Clothkit stroke Liberty stroke Saffron Craig week. All brights and florals.

The new kits range is cooler than when we grew up (worn with the obligatory jesus creeper footwear member?), this time round you can go down the ragdollyanna route and even weave cushion covers.

I’m hoping to save time on wedding bunting and tablecloths to match summertime blooms, but in the meantime…patchwork heavenski. xxx

P.S Dickens lovers, some spell it ersh some spell it ish.

Wake up Maggie

Captain entering daddom came in abundance this week with ads for an evening with Rod on our new set top, (box set, oh gawd whatever you call it thing you put on top of the telly to get digital). The admittance that he’d love to be rocking with the cheeky scot on a tv special is good. I think.

My dad-rock yearning stretches to once delivering the stewmeister flowers and catching him on his wood lathe, no sign of the leopard print leggings of a mis spent youth but he was wearing shoulder pads. My crush ended there.

Rod aside, arty window dressing jobs, a Rob Ryan adventure and an engagement party beckon this week, I’m thinking spring bulbs, mothers day, joyeux paques – jeez aren’t we all!?

Any umberella…

Thought for the day…again.

Back to black

My dear friend Emily is getting married and blowing caution to the wind is wearing black. I love it.

Abstaining from any white frufrula la nonsense she’ll be wearing a puffball affair with tuiles of noir and is going to look bl**dy brilliant!

I’m doing the flowers and props …can’t wait.

Love on a wednesday

I used to work in Short film and really miss it, penniless film makers baring their souls, a musicians first film score and fun screenings in Soho basements.

This one set in my favourite kind of place and found by lovely Laksmi is really sweet. Check out Barnaby’s other work here, it’s cool.

Too twirly wirly

We’re re-shooting the Gypsy Rose site over the next month with a view to making it less “girlie girlie and ornate”.

This, according to one of my more celubrious clients is the way forward.

An accumulation of weird props, my photo skills being akin to Olive on the buses and a yen for something simpler is paving the way. Plus inspiration from some really gorgeous websites out there. Once Wed and frolic being up there as two of my absolute faves with flowers.

Swoonsome photographer – check.
Typewriter, old mirrors and wallpaper – check.
Two photogenic, will wear corsages cats – check

Any non curly wurly, non renaissance ideas welcome.

Today feels a bit…

Magnolia – trees of it on the boat about to burst.

Rocking out – feeling the need to.

Tea – all I can drink these days.

Thanks Paul xxx

Give him the ooh lala

After posies in la pluie which was boring for tissue papered petals but fun for ringing on dishy doorbells and squeezing past Boosh fans (naughtily mid graffitee – ing) there’s a countdown to Paris and a blossom based wedding in the next few weeks.

Other news…a red hat purchase, cats sniffing the bump and wowee the first snow drops in the garden. I’m so easily pleased.

Taking it easy flower wise this week and tsk, under strict instructions not to climb cherry trees with fairylights.

Location a louer

I got a flattering, nay gushy (Leo I know you’ll forgive me as you were fawny to say the least) email from my friend this morning nagging me to register our boat Annie as one of her locations to hire for shoots.

The spec?

Eclectic living space, rural idyl (hmm kinda), lovely London hideaway, boho interior (I was actually going for minimalist), quirky and charming…followed by, hmmph, historic architectural salvage category (excuse me?).

As flattering as all these hip descriptions are meant I’m holding fire on replying just yet. Still we’ve been researching prices for perambulators and other chariots we’ll need for bumperoonie – and jeeps the opportunity may well come in handy. Can we throw in the cats as poetic prop pussies?

Check out these other divine locations and see what I’m up against…too tasteful.

P.S I’ve had a bash at doing that wall of logs look. It’s a snore!

Grey days and daffodils

Boat update…

I’ve been been nagg ohla’d about not putting pictures of the boat up so far, so here’s a few taken on a grey day to give you a feel.

It’s obviously very murky and mizzy and the washing is on the line. But, my bulbs are looking promising and thanks to Chelsea have found a new way with the primroses that are growing tweelee around my bike.

They look so pretty without their annoying curly lettuce leaves don’t they?

Here’s the spooky garden with graveyard scenery which weirdly I find comforting – the cats run amock here amongst the grey headstones – yerp, even Mme Cho fits her old age tum through the railings… evidence to follow.

Happy wednesday xxx
