Gypsy Rose Flowers

Mabel, Magnolia and mews

Mabel, Magnolia and mews

Today – Even in the cold dear sweet Mabel my cab is still going – a crack of dawn jaunt to the flower market had me having to prize her open with a few high kicks and de icer (breath) …dear winter will you ever leave?

Magnolia and a week of arty jobs – a shop window with trees of it, Mr jazz hands records swinging fro, flowers for a film set and an actor who’ll make me blush when I ring his doorbell.

The weekend – the todler experiment worked which was cool, a neighbour being horrid to Arnold made me maternal, Valentines rolled by romantically with blooms and feeling our baby’s heartbeat for the first time was pretty magical.

Blub…I think it’s going to be emotional.

My funny…

Valentines…It’s all about the above this weekend and daily candification of the flower type, hydrangea hearts plus preparing flowers for a film set, boats and todlers (the trial) and an experiment with floor paint.

More boat pics to come featuring Madame Cholet, the issue of the wet log and procrastinations about names. Maude, Dolly, Bo, Daphne Tom, Billie, Jack and Elvis…

Have a lovely weekend xxx

Chansons and capri pants

Les Demoiselles de Rochefort…I was feeling in the need of Gene Kelly, happy endings and love heart pastels last night…thinking of recreating this in flower form, possible? Colours perfect for impending valentines.

My favourite film. The best pick me up for bump blues ever.

Life is sweet

Thanks to the lovely bods over at Daily Candy and their mention on Valentines my heart is fashionably racing.

Cue lovelorn messages to scrawl, promises made and a flower girl feeling responsible for rose petalling the path of true love.

This year it’s all about bees…blooms in brocante, beady brooched belles, bouttonieres for our beau’s and beats for Blossom.

Ca plane pour moi

Moves and music – apart from decorating and being uptight about shades of white we’re also unearthing records. Glad the move made me remember Captain playing Vampire Weekend last spring – I’ve been painting to them and smiling at how much life has really changed … a tune for a thursday.

P.S They also a do a brilliant version of ca plane and this one too.

French ticking in the…

It’s still all about Annie our boat. Converting from actors With-nail abode to flower girl and ad directors dream pad was never going to be plain sailing.

We middle classily gave in to Farrow and Ball…and just covered our captains corner seating in ticking which I love ( yerp, I am turning in to my mother)…so yes I’m now all ticked out planning cushions, curtains and clogs in the stuff. Found some lovely striped taka tooka and vintagy floral stuff stateside for inspiration here.

After a thaw flowers are slowly creeping in too…it’s my favourite season and currently by our porthole, lilac hyacinths, white ranuncs and a huge wrap of white tulips…and super hooray there are loads of spring bulbs peering at us in the garden. Spring.

Blossoming dearies

So apart from the move there are pretty major changes afoot….so, seems apt that our cherry tree is shooting leaves ready for blossom season.

More on our boat shenanigans this weekend – there’s a captains cabin to paint milk and cakes to bake for friends on sunday. Maybe bump and I can squeeze in a few Murder She Wrotes’s too…

Have a lovely weekend xxx

It’s true what they say

There’s really no place like home. We made it, cats, captain and I are now on our new boat, Annie, a 1920’s tug.

It’s lovely but I was pretty sad to leave my first Gypsy boat. I had some brilliant adventures on it, had my heart healed and then stolen – and she steered me through some tough and magical times. Thank you big white palace!

So, here we are…There’s heaps to do on Annie but here’s a sneaky preview at how quickly our furry family settled in, how fast I painted that back red wall white and how quickly we got cozy. I love it.

More soon x

P.S That’s Arnold

‘but I’m holding on.

It’s mainly about boats today…wish me luck with the move, the kitties, captains music, and a very delicate carousel horse.

I leave you with my new friend Little Doodles…I love love love her work…a wedding invite commission?

Sailing on a blue note

We’ve been lugging posessions about all week, one day to go before we move. Don’t you hate that in between places feel?

So I’m thinking about the fire I’ll light, the corner the cats will love and flowers to fill the boat with. Maybe our first record will be a tune for Teddy?

I’ve also gasp…had to get rid of every vase with a cracked or broken handle, which if you know me will giggle at how much this grieves me.

But, I’ll be downstream tommorow…exciting!
